Executive and Personal Coaching, already very established in the USA, is now growing in popularity in the UK.
"Coaching is growing rapidly as it is now more acceptable to get help to develop personal skills. There is increasing focus on how and why executives do things. In addition, people are casting around for new ways to get better results.
There is a greater emphasis on coaching towards business results - a recognition that business and personal growth can go hand in hand. It is as much to do with pragmatism as self-actualisation."

The Hay Management Group's research in the UK among 170 managers found half had introduced coaching over the past 18 months, often to improve the performance of high-flyers.
"Business leaders are starting to rethink the way they are running and building their business for the future. Coaching and building strong teams is one of the ways they believe they can survive the downturn and build their business in the next year.

"Despite the economic slowdown, 90pc of organisations plan to extend coaching in their business and 70pc see it as the best way to boost high-flyers' performance. Not all executives are convinced - 41pc resist the idea - but they are being squashed under the bandwagon.
Coaching is increasingly used to ease executives into new roles, improve their ability to get on with peers and, surprisingly, boost self-confidence. Coaches to Britain's top brass say executives who drive themselves to the top often feel isolated and lonely when they get there."
